Discover Your Dosha: An Introduction to Ayurveda with Clinton

Discover the wisdom of Ayurveda and learn simple ways to bring greater balance, vitality, and awareness into your everyday life.

Ayurveda, the traditional system of health and well-being from India, offers a practical and personalized approach to understanding ourselves and supporting our own health. In this 90-minute introductory experience, you’ll explore the fundamental principles of Ayurveda and discover how small changes in daily habits can make a meaningful difference in how you feel.

We’ll begin with the Ayurvedic understanding that you are your own healer—that your body and mind have an innate capacity for balance, and that the choices you make each day can either support or disrupt that balance.

Together, we’ll explore the importance of daily routine, including regular meal times, making lunch the main meal of the day, establishing a consistent bedtime, and creating simple practices that support healthy digestion, energy, and well-being.

A central part of the class will be discovering your Ayurvedic body type, or Dosha. You’ll complete a simple Dosha questionnaire to explore your individual constitution and gain insight into your natural tendencies.

We’ll then explore one of Ayurveda’s most useful principles:

“Like increases like, and opposites balance.”

You’ll learn how this principle can help you recognize patterns in your own life and make more supportive choices around food, activity, rest, daily routine, and self-care.

The class concludes with an opportunity to reflect on your own habits and identify a few simple practices that may help you create greater balance in your life.

No previous experience with Ayurveda is necessary. Come curious, comfortable, and ready to learn more about yourself.

About Your Instructor

Clinton Horner has been exploring and teaching the principles of Ayurveda, meditation, and holistic wellness for more than three decades.

For 27 years, Clinton has been part of the team at Miraval Arizona Resort & Spa in Tucson, where he has worked as an Ayurvedic massage therapist and educator. He has taught guests about Ayurveda and the Doshas, as well as meditation, consciousness, and practical approaches to creating greater balance in everyday life.

His interest in Ayurveda grew from a broader exploration of traditional approaches to health and self-awareness. His studies and experiences have included extensive meditation practice, time spent in India, and years of exploring the relationship between daily habits, mind-body balance, and personal well-being.

Clinton's approach to Ayurveda is practical and accessible. Rather than viewing Ayurveda as a rigid set of rules, he sees it as a framework for becoming more aware of ourselves and learning to make choices that support our individual nature.

His teaching invites people to become active participants in their own well-being—to listen to their bodies, recognize patterns, and discover simple practices that can help restore balance.

“Ayurveda gives us a way to become more aware of ourselves. The more we understand our own nature, the better equipped we are to support our own health and well-being.”
